On the Indian road there are more than 80,000 peoples get killed in accidents every year. Driving should be done very carefully because at the time of driving, you are actually controlling a machine, which if not controlled properly can be destructive for you and others on the road. There are few tips for safe driving which must be kept in mind while you are on a drive, which are as follows :
1:- Make sure that your vehicle is ready for a drive. The driver seat is a very important place in the car so it must be adjusted for a correct driving position. The rear view mirror is also be adjusted in a right position.
2:- At the time of reversing the vehicle you should watch out the pedestrians and other obstructions which may be on road.
3:- Do not drive fast, "its better to be late than Late Mr.......". Always drive at a comfortable speed.
4:- More than 25% accidents comes out during overtaking. To overtake other vehicle follow the tips mentioned below:
* Before overtaking the other vehicle you first make sure that you are without danger to do so.
* Before overtaking you must be sure that the road ahead and behind is clear.
* If it is an lane driving use the right indicator to signal the other vehicles that you want to overtake and then change the lane safely.
* Check the postion of two-wheelers which might be hidden from view in front of the vehicle that you are about to overtake and watch for the vehicle in front that may be turning right.
* After overtaking, give left indicator which signals that you want to get back in the same lane and then get back to the previous lane.
* At the time of overtaking if the vehicles you are overtaking speeds up in this situation never race your vehicle and get back to your original lane.
5:- Indicate your intension to other vehicle driver by using proper indicators.
6:- Avoid alcohol during driving. Alcohol affects the nervous system of a person and this reduces the ability to control steering.
7:-Always follow the traffic rules and stick to the given speed limit.
8:- Always maintain enough distance from the vehicle ahead to avoid collision.
9:- Always obey the speed limits near schools, temples, hospitals.
10:- Give proper space to emergency vehicles to move.
11:- If possible try to drive during off-peak times, to avoid traffic congestion.
12:- The driver must not be indulge in day dreaming or distracting conversations. Even a few moment of lapse in concentration can results an accident.
13:- If you have to drive on wet roads make sure that your tyres, wipers and brakes are in good condition.
14:- When you have to park your vehicle in a poorly lit place, always leave the parking lights on.
