India’s largest auto manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, has decided to launch its new hatchback car, Maruti Ritz in Indian market. Maruti plans to launch this new model Maruti Ritz in the second week of May this year. Hyundai Motors India has recently introduced its premium hatchback car Hyundai i20 in Indian auto market and now its the turn for market leader, Maruti Suzuki to respond it by launching a new model in same segment in Indian market. Previously, Maruti was planned to launch this new car at the start of this year with the name Maruti Splash but now it decided to rename the Maruti Splash as Maruti Ritz for India due to registration problem as Splash name is already taken by any other auto manufacturer. Few days back, Maruti Suzuki has launched its ultra compact small car Maruti A-Star that got huge response in Indian market now by launching the Maruti Ritz, the company plans to capture more market share in small car segment.

The engine of Maruti Ritz has already been launched on 14th April. It will be equipped with the second generation of its KB series engine portfolio. Maruti plans to launch Maruti Ritz with both petrol and diesel engine options. But at the time of launch it will be available only with petrol engine option the launch date of diesel variant of Maruti Ritz is has not been decided yet. The petrol variant of Maruti Ritz will be equipped with its latest second generation of KB series engine, that is a 1.2L, 1197cc, K12M petrol engine that is can produce upto 85 bhp power at 6000rpm and around 113Nm torque at 4500rpm that makes Maruti Ritz much powerful car in small car segment. While the diesel model of Maruti Ritz will be equipped with a 1.3L, 75 Bhp, Multijet engine. All the variant of Maruti Ritz should should meet BS-IV emission norms and should be Euro-IV compliant. Maruti Ritz has already been launched in Europe and has replaced Maruti Wagon-R there. Maruti is not disclosed any information regarding Maruti Ritz price but it is expected that it will be priced in the range of Rs 4 to 5.5 lacs.

Maruti Ritz is a tall hatchback model, that offers more head roof and much space inside the car. Maruti Ritz carries a bold, stylish and sporty rear looks with an overall masculine look but it will appeal to small families that has limited budget. Maruti Ritz is not the successor of any of the previous Maruti model, but its brand-new concept make it able to satisfy the customers needs in terms of roominess, compactness, modern design, aerodynamics, quality, driveability, performance and environmental friendliness.
