World's leading auto manufacturer, Toyota Motor launched Toyota Innova CNG in India in MUV (Multi Utility Vehicle) segment. Toyota Innova CNG is a dual fuel vehicle that will use CNG as an alternate fuel. Toyota Innova was the most popular most popular multi utility vehicle of India.
Toyota Innova petrol engine model that is equipped with a 1998 cc, 16V DOHC WTi petrol engine is compatible for CNG kit. There is manual selector switch fitted in Innova CNG which enables the driver to switch from petrol to CNG and vice versa. The CNG cylinder of Toyota Innova has a capacity of around 12kg of CNG. The running cost of CNG Innova is estimated to be around Rs 1.6 per km. or might be less depending on the driving cycle.
Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM), a joint venture between Toyota Motors and Kirloskar, has tied up with the CNG kit supplier M/s Minda Auto Gas Ltd to supply the CNG kits for Toyota Innova CNG. The CNG Innova offers more than 50% saving in running costs. Toyota Innova CNG will be priced around more than Rs 85000 higher than the petrol engin. In the first phase, Innova CNG launched in Delhi, Mumbai, Surat, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. The CNG Innova might also be launched soon in Baroda and Vijaywada. All Toyota dealers in the above city are ready to sell and service the CNG Innova.
Since its launch in 2005, Toyota Innova has been emerge as the market leader with sales exceeding over around 1.62 lakh units so far. Toyota Innova has dominated the MUV (Multi Utility Vehicle) market and appealed to MPV customers as well as Sedan buyers who prioritize spaciousness and performance. In January this year, TKM launched the facelifted version of the Toyota Innova with advanced and dynamic styling.
