India's largest auto manufacturer Maruti is planning to launch Maruti O2 its new MPV (Multi Utility Vehicle) in India. The company official said that the new MPV O2 might be launched in India in the month of October this year. This new MPV, Maruti O2 is being built on its previous mpv model Maruti Versa platform and right now it is in its in its initial stage of designing and development. Maruti O2 will be roll out from Maruti's Gurgaon based manufacturing plant at Manesar. However company officials refused to disclose any information regarding the specifications and the pricing of this upcoming model.
This new MPV, Maruti O2 will directly compete with Toyota Innova, Chevrolet Tavera and recently launched and most popular MPV of these days Mahindra Xylo and the upcoming MPV model Tata Indicruz. In India the UV (Utility Vehicle) market is currently captured by Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo and with the launch of this new MPV Maruti expects to capture more share in this segment also.
Maruti is going to launch Maruti O2 to target the travel agencies and and BPO sector which costantly needs to ferry their employees from office to home and back. Maruti O2 will be slated as people's carrier that is designed to offer maximum comfort and easier handling. In India, the MUV (Multi Utility Vehicle) segment constitutes around one third of the UV segment and Maruti plans to make stonger presence in this segment also.
