Leading auto manufacturer Ford unveiled its much awaited first small car model Ford Figo for Indian market. Ford Figo will be manufacturerd at company's Chennai based manufacturing plant and it will be launched in Indian market in the first quarter of the next year. Ford Figo is a four door small hatchback car model which will be launched in Indian market with both petrol and diesel engine option. However, company refused to disclose the specific details like pricing and engine capacity.



Ford's global president and chief executive Alan Mulally said that the Ford Figo is designed to compete the other cars in small car segment in Indian market. He added that Ford Figo reflects our commitment to compete with great products in all segments in Indian car market. And we are confident that this new car will be a product that Indian consumers really want and value.

Ford Figo will be build on Ford's new small car platform and it will share underlying technology with Ford Fiesta. It is expected that this new car will compete with Hyundai i20, Hyundai i10, Maruti Swift and Maruti Ritz. About the price range of Ford Figo, Michael Boneham, Ford India president and managing director said "It is going to be very competitive with the current market leader and will offer a tremendous value for our consumers." He added that Ford Figo would be the big game changer for this company and it will transform our brand into a volume player in India.



Currently, Ford India is selling Ford Ikon and Ford Fiesta in sedan segment, Ford Fusion and the Ford Endeavour in premium SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) segment.
