General Motors India Ltd planning to launch five more used cars centers in India to tap the growing used car market. The General Motors deals with the used cars under the name Chevrolet Ok and company plans to introduce five more Chevrolet Ok centers within fifteen days. General Motors has already seventeen used cars centers across India and these centers recorded more than 500 transactions. General Motors India is offering six month guarantee for all its used cars. The used cars are needed to the series of inspections at the General Motors' outlets to ensure a fair deal to the consumers.

General Motors' Vice President, P Balendran said, “General Motors India has got huge success to its used cars business in the Indian market. We are ready to introduce five more Chevy Ok centres in different locations within a fortnight.” He added that "India offers a huge market as far as used cars are concerned as for every model of new cars sold in the country, two used cars are sold. In India the used cars market is still growing unorganized and it needs to be tapped effectively."

General Motors India is banking on the growing used cars market in India to bring incremental revenues amidst declining sales of new cars in the aftermath of economic recession. It is estimated that around 10 lakh units of used cars sold per annum and we can assume the size of this market. The used cars market being largely fragmented and unorganized. The share of the organized used cars market is only about 10 percent while rest unorganized dealers account for another 30 percent of share. The balance 60 percent of the sales in the used cars market is through personal dealings between the buyers and the sellers.
