Largest European auto manufacturer Volkswagen going to launch its most awaited premium hatchback model Volkswagen Beetle in Indian auto market in the first week of this December. A senior company official said that Volkswagen would import the car from its Mexican manufacturing plant as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) for sale in Indian markets. He, however refused to say about the exact Volkswagen Beetle price but we can surely say that importing the car as a CBU will definitely lead the price of Volkswagen Beetle to high end. It is expected that the heavy import duty will force the company to launch this premium hatchback with hefty price tag and Volkswagen Beetle price will fall in the range of Rs 18 to 20 lacs.

Volkswagen Beetle is one of the most popular models from this German auto maker's stable because of its unique design and styling features. The Volkswagen Beetle price will make it the most costliest small car model in Indian small car market. The company's dealer said that the car was long awaited since the company announced about its India launch and it generated immense interest in Indian market because of its small, stylish and unique exteriors. He added that Volkswagen Beetle is going to launch on 4th of this December but lots of queries for this car already started. He also said that the company decided to import the car in Indian market as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) from its mexican manufacturing plant it will surely lead its price to high end because of heavy import duty thus Volkswagen Beetle price will lie in 18 to 20 lacs bracket.

Currently, Volkswagen India sells its luxury sedan model Volkswagen Passat, Volkswagen Jetta and premium SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) model Volkswagen Touareg in Indian auto market and company plans to launch its mid-segment hatchback model Volkswagen Polo in country's domestic market as more than 70 percent car buyers comes for mid segment small cars. With the launch of Volkswagen Beetle and Volkswagen Polo, company plans to make its position strong also in Indian auto market. After the launch Volkswagen Polo will compete with other some other popular model that currently dominates this segment like Maruti Swift, Maruti Ritz, Skoda Fabia, Hyundai i10 and Chevrolet Aveo UVA. While, after the launch the Volkswagen Beetle will compete with Fiat premium small car model Fiat 500 and upcoming Fiat Bravo.
