Europe's largest passenger car manufacturer Volkswagen Group ready for its awaited premium small car model, Volkswagen Beetle launch in Indian auto market. Few days back Volkswagen India announced that they are ready for Volkswagen Beetle launch and it will hit the Indian road on 4th of this December. The car, however, is for premium segment and it will be introduced very hefty price tag but still the hype surrounding of Volkswagen Beetle is much more and the applications for advance booking already start coming. Volkswagen India has more than 160 units of the car till today, to book Volkswagen Beetle you have to pay Rs 2 lacs as a booking amount and after the launch you have to pay rest of the amount. Volkswagen India has made sure that everyone is talking about the Volkswagen Beetle launch, by its promos, teasing advertisements and other social media activities.
The popularity of Volkswagen Beetle is much more than any other passenger car of this segment because of its unique styling features and powerful engine. Volkswagen Beetle launch is going to take place tomorrow but the company official still refusing to disclose the exact pricing and other specifiacations of the car but Delhi based Volkswagen dealer said that it is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 18 to 21 lacs.
The company official said that Volkswagen Beetle will be launched with only one variant in Indian auto market. And it will be powered by the 2.0L, 1998cc petrol engine with six speed automatic transmission gearbox. This powerful engine produces good power and torque that results excellent acceleration so that Volkswagen Beetle can cross the 100kmph mark in just 11.5 seconds and it can touch the top speed mark of 180kmph. It is expected that it will deliver 11kmpl to 13kmpl mileage.
The Volkswagen India's senior official said that they will import the Volkswagen Beetle from company's Mexico based manufacturing plant thus its price will lead to high end and the car will be introduced with hefty price tag. The company also ready to launch its mid segment hatchback model Volkswagen Polo which will be hit the Indian road in January 2010. Volkswagen Polo will be build locally on company's Pune based manufacturing plant and priced in the range of Rs 4 to 5 lacs. Some other auto manufacturers also plans to introduce there new cars in Auto Expo like Chevrolet Beat, Ford Figo and Tata Indicruz. After the launch Volkswagen Beetle will come compete with Fiat 500 and upcoming Fiat Bravo that might be launched in the month of June 2010.
