India’s leading auto manufacturer FIAL (Fiat India Automobiles Ltd) is planning to launch a new version of its popular hatchback model Fiat Palio in the Indian market. FIAL (Fiat India Automobiles Ltd) is a joint venture between auto giants – Tata Motors and Fiat. The company plans to introduce new Fiat Palioat the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo 2010. The company has not officially announced that the older version of Fiat Palio will not be phased out in next few years. Fiat Palio has been passed a decade in the Indian auto market so it is expected that the company might be contemplate for replacing it with a newFiat Palio. The existing version of Fiat Palio is available in the range of Rs 3.3 lacs to Rs 4.7 lacs (as ex-showroom prices in New Delhi) and it is expected that the new Fiat Palio price will also fall in similar price range. It seems that the exterior of new Fiat Palio is designed by keeping Fiat Punto Evo in mind. Fiat Punto Evo has been showcased at Frankfurt Motor Show.
The front grille of Fiat Palio has taken from the Fiat Punto Evo while the front bottom portion looks same like its existing version. The slanted tail gate with sharp tail lamps makes the all newFiat Palio more appealing. The new Fiat Palio will be equipped with the newer generation engines that will satisfy the BS IV (Bharat Stage IV) emission norms. It is expected that it will be loaded with the same engine which is currently powering the company’s popular modelFiat Punto.
It is expected that FIAL (Fiat India Automobiles Ltd) will launch the all new Fiat Palio in the Indian market in the first quarter of 2010. The company indicates to launch the new Fiat Palio with highly competitive price tag so it is expected that it will be introduced at almost similar price range at which it existing version is available. The company is also planning to launch the CNG version of Fiat Palio and Fiat Punto in the first quarter of 2010. The sales of Fiat Palio are continuously shrinking from past few years due to Fiat’s poor sales and service network and its outdated look. But now the Fiat has improved its sales and service network and with the launch of new Fiat Palio company plans to compete with other models of its segment like Hyundai i10, Maruti A Star, Maruti Wagon R, Maruti Ritz and Chevrolet Spark. Apart from the new Fiat Palio other awaited models that might be showcased at Delhi Auto Expo are Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo, Chevrolet Beat and Maruti Eeco.
