Maruti Suzuki displayed its Concept Eeco Charge car at the ongoing 10th Auto Expo. Concept Eeco charge is one of the two eco-friendly projects undertaken by MSI under the Government initiated programmes by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Source (MNRE) and the National Hybrid Propulsion Programme (NHPP). MSI will display a fleet of Eeco Charge electric and SX4 Hybrid at the forthcoming Commonwealth Games in October 2010 with an intent to showcase electric and hybrid technology at Maruti Suzuki.
Concept Eeco Charge is a pure electric vehicle. It is powered by a 50 Kw motor and 24 Wh lithium-ion battery, promising a driving range of around 100 km and attain a top speed of 100 km per hour. The recharge time of the battery is 7 hrs. The drive mode is economy and sporty while the cruising range is 100 km. TheConcept also has the ‘sport mode’ for acceleration enthusiast. The battery for this vehicle has been packaged under floor for better drivability and retaining Eeco’s ample boot space. The real time display of State of Charge and Distance to Empty avoids the range anxiety for users. TheConcept can be charged using household power source. The displayed car at the Auto Expo was in bright grey colour and it is decorated with bold green lines.
Developing this project from scratch, Maruti Suzuki engineers have worked with global hybrid and electric technology and component suppliers.
