Toyota Etios in production from December

Toyota Etios is going into production coming December, so says the world's largest car maker Toyota. Till now Toyota Etios was just a pretty concept car that Toyota had displayed at the Auto Expo. But it will soon be a mass production vehicle. According to Hiroshi Nakagawa, Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), “Toyota Etios means spirit and principle. This car of ours is targeted at the middle level managers and young professionals and will be priced competitively." He added thatToyota would launch both the hatch and notchback under the Toyota Etios series with 1.2 litres and 1.5 litres petrol engines respectively.

Toyota is planning to price the hatchback model of the car in such a way as to place it opposite Maruti Swift and Ritz. And the notchback would have competitors in Tata Manza and Maruti Swift Dzire. It is expected that the car is suppose to have DOHC 16-valve engine with a 1200cc displacement. Toyota Etios is expected to be good even in the looks department with contemporary interiors sporting a centrally mounted instrument panel with offset AC vents. Toyota Etios is roomy and spacious in comparison to Swift. The performance and capabilities of the car are still to be tested and verified to come to a better conclusion regarding its performance and efficiency.
