Want a Tata Nano right away? Just wait till August-September and you would not have to wait and wait to get that little girl home as it would be available off the shelf anytime. Manoj Arora, senior manager, Tata Motors said, “From this August or September, customers will be able to walk into our showroom and drive out in a Nano.”
The news is really delightful for all those prospective Tata Nano buyers. According to Arora the company would now be able to deliver cars faster after setting up a manufacturing facility at Sanand (Gujarat). Till now the Tata Nanos that we have seen on the roads have been produced at the companies Pantnagar plant in Uttarakhand.
Tata is all set to start the Tata Nano ‘Superdrive’ event in which Tata Nano would travel across the country. Tata Nanos were flagged off from the Tata Motor Plant at Sanand on June 2. Arora said, “Nine Tata Nanos will cover three different routes during a 26-day-long voyage, and will visit 36 cities – covering a distance of over 15,000 kilometres.”
Right now there are about 35,000 units of Tata Nano on the Indian roads out of the initially booked 1.55 lakh units through a lottery. The first one lakh units of Tata Nano are price-protected and scheduled to delivered by this year-end. According to Arora, “The Sananad facility can manufacture 2.5 lakh units per annum.”
