The countdown for one of the most awaited car launch of the year has just begun. Nissan Micra, the first indigenously designed car for the Indian market by Nissan motors is going to launch today in the Indian market and would be out for sale from tomorrow. The car has created enough buzz around its launch ever since the concept was first revealed. Every Indian wants to grab this attractive pie from Nissan motors and flaunt it in their parking spaces. Within six weeks of the bookings being started, the car managed to clock around 1500 bookings, which indeed reflects the enthusiasm in the minds and hearts of the Indian customers.
Nissan Micra is going to compete against some of the most popular hatchbacks in the segment like Ford Figo, Maruti Swift, Volkswagen Polo etc. The model is already out for display at Nissan showrooms and is available for booking with an initial amount of Rs. 50,000/-. Although the details would soon be out in open for everyone to witness but it is expected to be launched in four variants ( XE, XE+, XL and XV) in the expected price range of Rs 3,90,000 to 5,20,000 (New-Delhi ex-showroom price).
With the launch of Nissan Micra, the company is looking forward to set its foot in the Indian automobile market, which happens to be one of the fastest growing automobile markets in the global scenario as of now. The Japanese auto major Nissan seems to have made an intelligent move by introducing a car in the hatchback segment as the compact car segment accounts for 70% of the total car sales in India. There is no doubt that the car would be equipped with an array of safety features like auto AC (climate control), ABS, fog lamps, security alarm, push button ignition and front passenger side airbag.
Nissan recently opened five new dealership outlets in cities including Ludhiana, Gurgaon, Calicut, Jalandhar and Surat. This move of ramping up dealership base in India would certainly help the company establish good customer rapo. Further, the officials from the company stated that they are expecting the dealership network to be expanded to a total of 20 in India.
The company seems to be targeting youth with the chosen brand ambassador being Ranbir Kapoor, a heartthrob of Indian youth in today's times. The manufacturing plant for the production of Nissan Micra has been set up at Chennai with an investment of 4500 Crores in a joint venture with Renault. Nissan Micra will be launched in the Indian market with 4 petrol engine variants, with manual transmission. The petrol variants of Nissan Micra would come with a 1.2L, 1198cc petrol engine that produces 76PS of power and 104 Nm of torque.
With such an interesting package unveiling today, there is excitement and verve rising high. Hope there is a lot that the car would ultimately offer to the Indian customers.
