After carmaker Maruti, it is time now for Hyundai to increase its car prices. The company will increase car prices in India by around 1.2 per cent. As a result, cars like Hyundai Santro, Hyundai i10 and Hyundai Sonata would get expensive now. The rise in prices is due to increase in input costs. According to Hyundai Motor India's director (Marketing and Sales), Arvind Saxena, “We have tried to absorb as much of the cost as we can, but there has been consistent increase in the commodity prices that forced us to pass some of it to the customers."
While Hyundai i10 and Hyundai Santro would get expensive by Rs 3500, Hyundai Sonata could get dearer by nearly Rs 10,000.
Country’s largest carmaker Maruti had increased its prices from August 1 by 1.5 per cent. The prices of Maruti cars, excluding Maruti Alto, went up by Rs 7,500.
After Hyundai and Maruti, it is now Toyota that is revising its prices stating the same reasons. The prices of Toyota products are likely to go up this October. But the amount of price hike is not yet clear. According to Toyota Kirloskar Motors deputy MD (marketing) Sandeep Singh said, “Input cost pressure is very high and the fluctuation in Yen is also affecting us. We will review the prices of our products in October.”
The constantly increasing input costs are forcing the carmakers to increase prices as they are unable to absorb this.
