When Hyundai Santro came to Indian it gave the small car buyers more options to choose from. Several years down the line the car makers is all set to launch two-three products every year to grab the rapidly growing small car market. The move will help the company to maintain its market share, which currently amounts to 20.6 per cent. According to the industry body SIAM data, domestic car sales rose 33.24 per cent to 1,60,794 units in August compared to 1,20,681 units in the same month previous year.
Hyundai Motor India Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Han-Woo Park was quoted by a leading national daily saying, “We will continue to launch two to three new models every year. The domestic market demand is increasing and we want to en-cash it.”
At present Hyundai is gearing up to bring out its sports utility vehicle Santa Fe to the Indian showrooms next month. The company is also designing a new small car but did not give any time frame for it. The new small car is being worked upon in Korea and this new model would most likely be an immediate rival to Maruti Alto. And this new car would be positioned below the Hyundai Santro.
