The country’s biggest carmaker that has given bestselling products like Maruti Alto, Alto K10, Maruti Wagon R, Maruti Swift et al has recorded its highest every monthly sales.
Maruti Suzuki India posted highest ever monthly sales at 1,04,791 units in August which took up Maruti’s growth chart by 23.56 per cent over the year-ago period. Figures like these keep the company on top of the chart as the country’s biggest carmaker.
The fast growing Indian car market has helped the company cross the one lakh sales mark thrice this fiscal. Maruti had reported sales of 1,02,175 units in May. That was the first time when the company had crossed the one lakh units in monthly sales.

Last year the company had posted domestic market sales of 92,674 units and so far there has been a 32.47 per cent increase. MSI's exports in last month declined by 18.39 per cent to 12,117 units from 14,847 units in the year-ago period.
Model wise break up
The country’s first hatchback Maruti 800 now sells 29.81 per cent less cars i.e 1,919 units as compared to 2,734 units in August 2009. The A2 segment, comprising Alto, WagonR, Zen Estilo, Swift, A Star and Ritz, saw a 25.69 per cent growth at 65,953 units as compared to 52,473 units in the same month a year ago.
Cars like Maruti SX4 and Swift Dzire, falling in the A3 segment, sold more units and sales went up by 33.99 per cent to 10,479 units compared to 7,821 units in 2009 August.
