Ford Figo won the Indian car of the year award and is today one of the most preferred hatchbacks in the country. The car was launched last year and it immediately brought back a lagging Ford India into the game.
Several months after its launch Ford India is all set to export the Figo to at least 48 countries like South America, Africa and Middle East this year.
The car was developed and designed keeping in mind the needs of emerging markets and the Indian market being a hatchback lover’s market embraced the model. Last year, 7000 units of Ford Figo were exported to South Africa in the wake of good demand.

Ford Figo is already being exported to countries like Nepal and according to Vice President Sales, Ford India, N Raja Figo will now find consumers in 48 countries. Next the car would be shipped to markets in Europe.
Last year Ford India sold 80, 000 units and this year the Ford India was eyeing a 50 per cent growth nationally in its sales. It is targeting to sell over one lakh plus cars in 2011.
Ford is all set to launch eight new models by 2015 in India.

Ford Figo the company’s bestseller comes with a price tag of Rs 3,60,485 –5,41,595. (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is available in both the petrol and diesel versions. The 1.2L petrol engine is capable of producing 71PS of maximum power and 102 Nm of peak torque while the 1.4L, Duratorq diesel engine that currently powers Ford Ikon and Ford Fiesta produces 69PS of maximum power and 160 Nm of top torque. The car is available in four variants in both petrol and diesel engine – Lxi, Exi, Zxi and Titanium.
