Maruti Alto now world's No. 1 small car

Maruti Alto has become worlds no. 1 small car in 2010 with record breaking selling numbers. Maruti Alto bagged the title leaving behind Fiat Uno and Volkswagen Gol in Brazil and Volkswagen Golf in Germany. This was for the first time when an Indian small car managed to score maximum number of sales world wide.

Maruti Alto gained 25 percent hike amounting total sales of 3,00,000 units sold from that of 2009. The launch of Maruti Alto K10 has also been outstanding for the company in terms of sales demand. Maruti Alto K10 was launched in mid of 2010 which made a remarkable contribution in sales of Maruti Alto last year. The period was quite crucial for Maruti Alto when the sales of, the leading small segment cars, Volkswagen Golf dropped down to third position.

On the Occasion, Mr. Rao, Managing Executive Officer (Engineering), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd commented that Maruti Alto K10 is the major reason behind the remarkable growth acheived by the company in 2010 as the car was efficient enough to attract the buyers.

Earlier launched in 2006 Maruti Alto, has come as one the most trusted small cars in the domestic market and has been most selling hatchbacks. Now, this global recognition has come as the milestone for the auto major. Moreover, Maruti Suzuki is expecting to crack 4 lakh units of sales in 2011.

Maruti Alto is powered by 796 cc petrol engine and comes in four exciting variants i.e. : Maruti Alto Std., Maruti Alto Lx, Maruti Alto Lxi and Maruti Alto Green Lxi(CNG). It delivers mileage of 14.6 kmpl in city conditions and 18.9 kmpl on highways. New launched Maruti Alto K10 is powered 998 cc petrol engine and comes in two variants i.e. : Maruti Alto K10 Vxi and Maruti Alto K10 Lxi ,it offers mileage of 15.0 kmpl in city conditions and 20.2 kmpl on highways.
