The season of new launches is all set to kick start with the launch of the all new sedan Maruti Kizashi. The country’s biggest carmakers will foray into the luxury sedan segment with the new Maruti Suzuki Kizashi. The car will be launche don the second of the next month and will be brought into the Indian market as a completely built unit (CBU). This will be Maruti’s most expensive vehicle after the Maruti SX4 sedan.

Since the car will be imported as a CBU it will be priced in the range of cars like the Skoda Laura, Hyundai Sonata, Honda Civic, Volkswagen Jetta and Toyota Corolla. The price range of the car is likely to be between Rs 12 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. Maruti Suzuki India Managing Executive Officer (Marketing & Sales) Mayank Pareek told a news agency “This (Kizashi) is our attempt to be future ready, as we believe the A4 and A5 segment (luxury) is going to grow. It is small at the moment but the way the economy is growing, this segment is going to be big.
Maruti is currently the market leader with a number of bestselling models under its belt. But the company has models mostly in the small car and hatchback segments like Maruti Alto, Maruti Wagon R, Maruti Ritz, Maruti Swift etc. It also has sedans like the Maruti Swift Dzire and Maruti SX4. The company expects toretain its position as a market leader by such innovative products in the future.
The year 2011 is also going to see the launch of the all new Maruti Swift and the launch of under 4 meter Maruti Swift Dzire is also speculated.
The Kizashi comes with a 2.4 litre petrol engine mated with a manual and an automatic transmission options. Maruti spokespersons have maintained throughout that the aim of the sedan Maruti Kizashi is to understand the needs of the customers in the higher end segments. After the SX4 there is no other higher Maruti car and it looks like with the new Maruti Kizashi the company is giving its customers a choice in the upper segment.
