The 'people's car' New Tata Nano is in news again but this time for a good reason, as the company is adding a diesel variant to this highly famous model. The little car powered by a diesel engine is speculated to appear in the Indian auto market by the month of September 2011. The little bug from local manufacturer is expected to bring good news for the company by increasing the sales in domestic market.
If the speculations are to be believed, the exciting model will appear in a 600 to 700 cc engine model. But a little change in price range is also expected as the diesel variant might come with a little inflated price tag. Honeywell is the producer of the smallest turbo system on globe, exclusively for Tata Nano and now a diesel variant of this little wonder will employ a yet smaller Bosch common rail direct injection (CRDi) system. Coming to other partners which will help the product come in existence id Ricardo, FEV and AVL.
For now Tata Nano was the smallest petrol car in the world but its time to receive another title by the company as World's smallest diesel car and luckily the manufacturer is going to be the same. In the same segment, Tata has no diesel variant car in its Indian portfolio hence the Tata Nano Diesel is going to be a far more special product for the company.
There are high expectations associated with this little model and company will certainly expect better sales with it. The model might change table for the company and the car might actually fulfill the dream of its creator.
Ratan Tata is taking all necessary steps to save his dream car from drowning sales. First major step was attractive TC commercials of Tata Nano and now its the diesel version which might change the story for him. We even saw an open sale offer at the 874 outlets of Tata Motors which was an essential step to boost its sale.
