Chevrolet Beat Diesel is likely to hit the Indian roads by June 2011. General Motors the parent company of the small car is willing to present this gift to the diesel lovers. P Balendran Vice-President General Motors made the announcement at the launch of Chevrolet Beat LPG recently that Chevrolet Beat Diesel will enter the Indian market this year by June. Though he said that it a mere extension of the variants rather than the expanding on the car models.
The diesel powertrain will be manufactured at the Talegaon unit in Maharashtra. GM India has already invested around USD 230 million for the unit which owns a capacity of 1.60 lakh cars.

Mr Balendran also ushered on localizing its auto mobiles in India. He said that the new engine unit at Talegaon will greatly help in localizing the components up to 90 per cent. In future the company will also introduce Euro -IV variant of its popular SUV Chevrolet Tavera probably by the end of this year. At present, General Motors outsource Euro III from UK for the SUV. The company will also invest USD 300 million for launching six car models on a brand new platform in the coming two years. It will include a new compact car, sedan, SUV, pick up trucks, MUVs and upgraded version of Chevrolet Captiva a premium SUV. Mr Balendran also showed his concern over the decreasing profit margin this year due to various factors. Last year Indian auto mobile industry grew up to 31 per cent and General Motors in India registered 60 per cent growth however, this year the company expects to grow only 30 per cent.
