When Hyundai launched the Santro it took the Indian small car market by storm. The model was hugely successful and soon became the company’s bestseller. Today, years after its launch the Hyundai Santro has touched another milestone. Hyundai Motor India has exported five lakh units of the flagship Hyundai Santro from India.
The car is known for its performance and easy on the pocket features. There is no doubt that the car is widely appreciated for its design, technology and safety too. Hyundai has been exporting cars since 1999. It sent a batch of 20 Santro cars to Nepal by 2004 it had exported one lakh cars across models. At present the made in India Hyundai Santro is exported to 80 countries world over.

Hyundai India commands about 57 per cent of the total exports of passenger cars in the country. In about a decade Hyundai has been exporting cars manufactured in India globally.
At present the company has cars like the Hyundai Santro, Hyundai i10, Hyundai i20, Hyundai Accent, Hyundai Verna, Hyundai Sonata and Hyundai Santa Fe in its Indian portfolio. The carmaker will soon be launching another small car called the Hyundai HA in the entry level segment in the Indian market. The car could be priced in the Rs 2-3lakh range amidst cars like Tata Nano and Maruti Alto. Hyundai HA is likely to be powered by an 814cc three-cylinder version of Santro’s Epsilon engine.
