Ford Figo 1.6 to hit Indian roads soon

Ford India recently announced that it is thinking on the lines of launching eight new cars in India by 2015. Few days back Ford revealed its plans to bring the upgraded version of its popular saloon Ford Fiesta in India. Following the news of Ford Fiesta being relaunched here we are here with yet another news of Ford to launch new variant of its flagship Ford Figo. As per the grapevine, Ford plans to roll out another variant of its popular hatchback that made Ford a huge success in India. Ford Figo 1.6 is rumoured to be in the works. The new Ford Figo 1.6 is likely to be powered with 1.6 Duratec engine, which is capable of producing 100 bhp of power.

Another auto giant who has gained popularity in the small car segment is Volkswagen, Volkswagen Polo has managed to woo the Indian customers. The popularity of the car is evident through the number of awards the car won recently. Another car that can give a tough competition to Ford Figo 1.6 is Skoda Fabia 1.6. Ford it seems in wake of retaining its popularity in India is planning to roll out another variant of its flagship Ford Figo.

Contemplating the success of Ford Figo , Ford recently made an announcement that it will soon introduce its small car Ford Figo in North African nations, Mexico, Caribbean Islands and in Middle East countries. Ford is rumored to manufacture its cars in India and export to the other countries.

Giving more clarity on the speculation, Michael Boneham- President and Managing Director at Ford India said that the Indian auto industry will act as the hatchback hub for the company. He further added that Ford Figo will be manufactured in India for the rest of the markets. Depending on the demand company may adopt similar strategy for the cars which will be introduced in India.
