The czar of the Indian auto market Maruti has got a stern competition through its counterpart Volkswagen. Maruti’s popular hatchback Maruti Swift is facing stiff competition with the spectacular Volkswagen Polo. Maruti has enjoyed the numero uno position for a long time in the small car segment, commonly called as a common man’s manufacturer, Maruti has been the undisputed king of the hatchback segment. General Motors however changed the trend with the launch of small cars in the rapidly growing Indian auto market and gave a stiff competition to the common man’s manufacturer. Despite of the tough competition the splendid hatchback has managed to maintain its sales figure.
As per the recent polls conducted by the largest syndicated automotive study in the country, TNS Automotive, Maruti Swift and Volkswagen Polo have emerged as the most popular hatchbacks in India. The study done on the customer satisfaction was released a few days back. Around 9300 customers who recently bought new cars gave their opinions.

The study revealed a very vital fact as per which the North Indian car owners are less satisfied than the customers located in other parts of the country, the reason behind this is after sales services. The study also suggests that the customers based in bigger cities are more satisfied than the customers located in smaller areas. The study also brought a very important point into the notice which says that the low end customers now expect more features embedded in small cars like Tata Nano and Maruti Alto. The report also suggests that expensive cars score high on satisfaction than the low cost cars. The gist of the report is that the auto biggies are in no mood to compromise on the customer satisfaction parameter.
