One of the country’s oldest and most trusted carmakers – Maruti Suzuki India Ltd – has announced the recall of its diesel cars Maruti Swift Dzire, Maruti Swift hatchback and Maruti Ritz to check for flaws. The carmaker will recall a total of 13,157 diesel variants to replace a faulty engine part. The fault cars have been manufactured between November 13 and December 4 last year. The company will be replacing a connecting rod bolt responsible for abnormal noise in the engine free of cost.
The carmaker had recalled 100,000 Maruti A-Star cars in February 2010 across domestic and overseas markets for fuel tank related issues. And in July 2010 the company had to fix ignition issues on 6,000 Maruti Alto hatchbacks.

The recall bug has bit the auto world across the globe with Toyota being the first to recall a number of cars last year in Western markets. In India Tata has faced trouble regarding its people’s car Tata Nano catching fire and had to install safety features to put anxious customers at ease.

Recently, Honda Siel Car India Ltd also recalled its bestselling model Honda City in India. Honda City models made between November 2008 to December 2009 will get a preventive part replacement of the lost motion spring in the valve train. According to the carmaker the replacement will be done for 57,853 units of the Honda City.
The third generation Honda City needs a change of lost motion springs. These are compressed by rocker arms in normal engine use.

The result of these not working properly is that these springs may bend or break. This can cause abnormal engine noise and might cause engine stalling and restarting issues.
