Fiat is an Italian automaker company which is manufacturing cars in India in collaboration with Tata India. This Tata-Fiat joint venture has not generated significant sales in India so this venture seems to be in jeopardy. In order to turn the odds in favor, Fiat is planning to open its standalone showrooms and service Centre in India. This may increase the revenue and pull the company from the crises resulted from the failed alliances with Tata motors. Fiat India Automobiles Limited (FIAL) has launched its most popular small car model Fiat Punto called, "Fiat Punto 90 HP" on July 16, 2010. Fiat Linea was launched on October 8, 2010. It is available in two variants namely Fiat Linea T Jet and Fiat Linea T Jet Plus. Launch of these models was no big success and it failed to earn goodwill or popularity for Fiat India.
Relevant sources have reported that Tata India is planning to dilute the Tata-Fiat JV by 2013 thereby increasing severity for the survival of Fiat India is expected to adopt certain strategies for its survival. In line with this, Fiat India has decided to facelift Fiat Grand Punto and Fiat Linea. Fiat Grande Punto might get EVO styling thereby getting a new name Fiat Grand Punto Evo however facelift specifications Linea has not yet decided. It is presumed that revival of Fiat model may earn some volumes to the company however the upgradation process alone wont be able to help fiat India to sustain in the Indian auto market, several other measures are also needed to be adopted. Both Fiat Punto and Fiat Linea are the hatchback cars in India.
We can see that Fiat India is moving on the right track, to cater lost volumes as it is talking to dealers for opening standalone fiat showrooms and services in India offering quality services. By opting for such measures Fiat India will soon be able to take control of its sales and services in India and to restore its Brand image. Fiat India is also launching a compact crossover in the Indian market : Fiat Sedici. Fiat Sedici is a compact SUV which is well suited for rapidly growing Indian Market. It is a revised version of Sedici which is being sold in Europe. In India this car will be launched with certain modifications destined for indian Market. The Sedici is manufactured in Hungary by Maruti Suzuki Motors and is based on the well known Maruti SX4 platform. These car may enable Fiat to restore its lost volumes in India and enable it to survive or thrive in Indian market.
