Hyundai India has now announced that they are going to launch the diesel variant of Hyundai i10. Hyundai i10 in the petrol variant is among the most selling hatchbacks in the country. The increase in the petrol prices in the country is forcing the car manufacturers to move towards the diesel variants of the car. Hyundai India which first refused to launch diesel variant of Hyundai i10 is now thinking to do the same to continue the sales of this hatchback. The diesel variants of the car provide better mileage and a wonderful performance.
This shift from the petrol variants to the diesel variants was a very quick decision by the South Korean auto major. The major auto makers in the country have already announced that they are going to launch the diesel variants of their cars. The car manufacturers like Honda has even announced that they are going to launch the diesel variants of the their popular sedan Honda City soon in the market. This Hyundai i10 diesel which the company said earlier was difficult to launch, is now saying that seeing the current trend in the market Hyundai i10 must be launched in the market.
General Motors is all set to launch the diesel variants of its car, GM has announced that it is going to launch the diesel variants of Chevrolet Beat diesel on the 25th of this month. The engine of Hyundai i10 is supposed to be a 1L CRDi diesel engine which can give a maximum power of 75 ps at 4000 rpm and maximum of 153 Nm of torque. It is speculated that the diesel variant of the car will give out a mileage between 20- 25 kmpl, this is much better that the its petrol variant.
It might be possible that this car again take over the hatchback segment in the country as its diesel variant had done. The company at present sells Hyundai Accent, Hyundai Sonata, Hyundai Santa Fe, Hyundai i20, Hyundai Verna and Hyundai Tucson.
