Chevrolet Beat is a successful model of General Motors. The Chevrolet Beat EV, though not yet available in India is offered in the other overseas markets. Chevrolet Beat EV has to now gear up for a tough competition in the segment as Volkswagen plans to introduce Volkswagen UP! in the electronic version. The Volkswagen e-UP! is a concept car, which gives an insight into the future EV projects from VW. Volkswagen e-UP! concept car was showcased in the 2009 Frankfurt Motor show for the first time. After undergoing many changes with respect to design and technology, the small car is now ready to go into production in 2013. The Volkswagen e-UP! near production model was introduced lately in the 2011 Frankfurt Motor show. As far as the design of the car is concerned, the model looks similar to that of the standard Volkswagen UP! model with a noticeable change in the LED daytime running lamps. The LED lamp is given an arch-shaped or a sickle-shaped look on either side of the bumper.

The Volkswagen UP! comes with a 18kWh of battery to generate a peak power of 80 bhp and 210 Nm peak torque. The maximum speed attained by the car is 135 kmph. The battery enables the car to go up to 150 km in a single charge. The Chevrolet Beat EV, the only competitor in the segment for the upcoming Volkswagen e-UP! can churn out a peak power of 60 Bhp and can go up to around 115 km in a single charge. However, the proven track record of Chevrolet Beat puts it in a better light as compared to the still-under-production model Volkswagen e-UP!
