The car sales in the month of November are slightly better than the October sales. The overall car sales have been satisfactory during the last month especially after the low October sales. The car manufacturers have literally given up hope on increasing their car prices after seeing the October sales. Toyota Motors might be the only exception to risk the price increase. If somebody questioned GM India about the price hike just two months back, the answer would have been a negative. But the inflation is higher than ever and the rupee value has come down too low with the overall car market slow down on the other hand. What else can a car manufacturer do in a situation as bad as this. Unable to absorb the losses any further, GM India has finally given up and announced the hike on all its car models. While the rest of the Chevrolet line-up will see the car prices upped by 2%, Chevrolet Beat diesel price is increased with an immediate effect. Rs 15,000 has been added to its existing price which is pretty strange when the car manufacturers are usually high on offering discounts at the year end.

Then, why did GM India take this strange decision. However, P Balendran, president of GM India had offered us an explanation for this step. Chevrolet Beat diesel was offered at an introductory price to begin with. Following the success of Chevrolet Beat petrol, the auto major found the consumers opting the diesel cars over the petrol models. Later at an afterthought, GM India launched the Chevrolet Beat diesel at Rs4.35 lakhs. However, the sales garnered by this car are overwhelming. GM India has put up a great show in car sales contributed by Chevrolet Beat diesel more than any other car from its stable. Like betting high on a horse that wins the race, the auto major has probably decided to implement the hike on its best-selling car Chevrolet Beat diesel. End of the day, the good news from the car manufacturer turns out to be a bad news for the consumer with all the cars with bigger numbers on the price tags.
