Mahindra did put up an impressive show especially with its SsangYong products at the Auto Expo. There were numerous vehicles displayed by the domestic utility car manufacturer, but most impressive of the lot were the SsangYong products Rexton and Korando E concept. However, Mahindra might like to take a while before it launches the Rexton and Reva NXR electric in India, which seems to be more around Diwali time. The rush of new car launches did not give us breathing space to get into the details of many products and let us see what Mahindra brings us with the Rexton SUV. The 2.7 L diesel engine is just ideal for the imposing stance of the SsangYong Rexton with a 182 Bhp and 402 Nm peak power and torque. And Mahindra’s idea to place the Rexton against Ford Endeavour is not bad as ruggedness is dripping from every angle as we see the four-wheel drive SUV and it is a shame if we are compromised with anything lesser than that from a Mahindra product.

The underpinning is what we will still have to find out but the Rexton price is more clear from various hints from the car manufacturer. The SUV will be brought to the Indian shores as a knocked down unit straight from SsangYong Motors and to be assembled at Mahindra’s plant locally. All the same, the auto major wants the Rexton to be the first premium offering from its stable and hence we can expect it to be priced in the range of Rs 17 lakh. Though, Mahindra did bring some other products also to the show, we didn’t quite get a chance to discuss either of those. The Korando E concept, which is basically an all-electric version of the Korando crossover showcased at its stall might take a bit longer to enter into the market. The Actyon Sports pick up was also displayed at the Auto Expo, which happens to be another SsangYong product apart from its all-electric Reva NXR unveiled at the Auto Expo 2012.
