These days, there is great demand for Sports Utility Vehicles also known as SUVs in the country. The bigger families find SUV much better and comfortable than hatchbacks or sedans. At the Auto Expo 2012, New Delhi, the sports utility vehicles were victorious in outshining other cars. Auto giants of the car market comprising of Ford, Mahindra and Mahindra, Renault, Premier and Maruti Suzuki brought in their masculine, proud and rugged SUVs for the hopeful customers. Ford launched in its most expected compact SUV, Ford EcoSport, whereas Renault showcased Renault Duster, which is expected to be launched in the month of April 2012.

Both these new SUVs, Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport will probably carry a price tag of Rs. 10 lakh. India’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India introduced its compact SUV concept, XA Alpha. On the other hand, Mahindra and Mahindra displayed its four Ssangyong SUVs in the country out of which, Mahindra Korando E and Mahindra Rexton are likely to be launched in India by the end of 2012. Hence, it is pretty clear that the Indian market scenario in terms of SUVs will see a tough competition between domestic and global auto majors.

Indian auto makers, like Tata Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra along with few other companies such as Force Motors and Premier are already into a big fight with firms like Audi, Skoda, BMW, Toyota and Ford. And with the launch of so many SUVs at the Auto Expo 2012, the circumstances that would prevail in Indian Auto Market will become much more interesting and exciting. Nobody knows as this might just be a sign that the Indian auto market is maturing and budding day by day and a lot of global car manufactures are investing a huge amount of money in the SUV segment of the Indian car market. so far, some of most appreciated SUVs in India include in Mahindra Scorpio, Toyota Fortuner, BMW X1, Mahindra Bolero and Tata Safari.
