Auto Expo is always one of the most anticipated events for the Indian Auto industry and this time around, almost all the car makers are taking advantage this event very thoughtfully. On 5th January 2012, Volkswagen illustrated its presence wisely at the Auto Expo 2012, which is being held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. The company displayed its much talked about Volkswagen XL 1 concept. The major highlight here is that XL 1 delivers an astonishing mileage of 111 km per litre and comes with 1 litre of two cylinder TDi engine, which churns out peak power of 48 BHP.

What adds more charisma and appeal to Volkswagen XL I Concept is the electric motor. This electric motor generates about 27 BHP of additional power thereby making it the most fuel efficient car ever made by Volkswagen. Besides the new Volkswagen XL 1, Volkswagen India also brought in new Volkswagen Beetle and Volkswagen Touareg. The new variant of Beetle is installed with 1.4 litre of petrol unit, which produces 158 BHP of maximum power, whereas the diesel version comes with 2.0 litre of diesel engine that produces 138 BHP of maximum power. Hence, Volkswagen India has been successful in taking care of the needs of both diesel and petrol customers.

Volkswagen India also introduced the new Volkswagen Touareg, which proved to be the star for Volkswagen at the Auto Expo 2012. The SUV has been launched with ample of enhancements, which consists of V6 3.0 litre of diesel motor that spawns about 205 BHP of peak power. This bold and powerful SUV by Volkswagen is expected to hit the Indian roads by the month of April 2012. Rumors in the Indian market also suggest that the company has some plans on pioneering a petrol-hybrid variant of 3.0 litre sometime in future.
