A plethora of upcoming vehicle launches soon to rock the Indian car market...
This year seems to be a lucrative year for the country’s car market with more than a few Upcoming Cars to be launched one after another. The list is quite long and there are Diesel Cars, SUVs and a couple of Petrol Cars as well. The SUV segment is also getting quite a few additions as the demand for these muscular vehicles have seen a surge recently. But the fate of Petrol Cars seems to be in doldrums with another hike in the fuel prices from today. What is in store for all these new entrants in the coming future that only time will tell.
Tata Safari Storme
To start with, the most anticipated launch of this year is Tata Safari Storme; an SUV from the formidable stables of Tata Motors is expected to be priced around Rs. 10 lakh approximately. According to a few Tata Safari Storme Reviews, this SUV will come equipped with a 2179cc DICOR engine that churns out 140 Bhp at 4000 Rpm along with 320 Nm of torque at 1700 Rpm. This engine is said to be fitted with an advanced G76 MKII, 5-Speed manual transmission gear box for smoother gear shifts. The company claims that this SUV will be able to generate a mileage between 11 to 15 Kmpl, which is quite impressive. The launch is expected to happen anytime now as the company had stated that this SUV would be launched in May or early June.
Mahindra Mini Xylo
The next is Mahindra Mini Xylo, which is a subdued version of Mahindra Xylo. The significant changes are in the exteriors, which have been resized as well as the engine that has also been decreased. The approximate price of this compact SUV is expected to be Rs. 6 lakh. The engine is expected to be a 1498cc CRDI engine with 3 cylinders and mated with a 5-Speed manual transmission gear box. The details regarding power output and torque have not been revealed yet, but this mini SUV is expected to give a mileage between 10 to 15 Kmpl. The launch of this compact SUV is expected to be somewhere around June this year.
This SUV is being referred to as the ‘BABY SUV’ and is the smallest SUV made by Audi till date. It is expected to hit the Indian car market in June this year. This SUV is expected to be equipped with a 2.0 TDI diesel mill that can churn out a peak power of 174 Ps along with a maximum torque of 380 Nm. This engine is said to be fitted with a Dual Clutch 7-Speed automatic direct shift gear box and also the legendary Quattro All-Wheel drive system as well. The price is expected to be approximately in the range of Rs. 25 lakh and the mileage is said to be around 5 to 8 Kmpl.
Chevrolet Sail Hatchback
This impressive hatchback from Chevrolet India is all set to zoom into the market in June, 2012. Apart from its striking exteriors, this new hatchback will house a 1.2 litre S-TEC II petrol motor and is also expected to be offered in a 1.3 litre multi-jet diesel mill. The petrol motor will offer a power output of 80.5 Ps and 108 Nm of torque, which is quite apt for the Indian road conditions. The price of the petrol variant is estimated to be around Rs. 4 lakh and the company claims that this hatchback will give an amazing mileage of 15 to 18 Kmpl. This new hatchback is said to be packed with new comfort and safety features and is surely going to give its competitors a stiff competition.
New Hyundai Elantra
This luxurious sedan is expected to be launched in the month of July, 2012 and is projected to carry a price tag of Rs. 13 lakh. The exteriors of this sedan are simply brilliant and it generated an incredible response in the 11th Automobile Expo that it was showcased in. This new Hyundai Elantra will be incorporated with a 1.8 litre petrol motor capable of producing 150 Ps of power with 182 Nm of torque. This engine is said to propel the sedan from 0 – 100 in just 13.5 seconds and can attain a top speed of 195 Kmph. The other engine option is expected to be a 1.6 litre CRDI diesel mill that has the capacity to generate a pounding torque of 265 Nm and 128 Ps of power. Both these engine options will feature a 6-Speed manual as well as an automatic transmission gearbox. The mileage of this sedan is expected to be in the range of 11.4 to 14.9 Kmpl.
This MPV is said to be a surprise package from Chevrolet India, which is expected to be launched somewhere in August this year. Chevrolet Enjoy is believed to a customized MPV for the Indian car market, keeping in mind the demands and requirements of the customers here. The price tag is expected to be around Rs. 7 lakh and this seven seater, is said to be apt for those buyers, who want style, elegance as well as spacious interiors. It will be offered with a petrol and diesel engine option and is anticipated to give a remarkable mileage between 12 to 16 Kmpl. The petrol version will house a 1399cc motor that can provide a maximum power of 94.6 Bhp along with 127 Nm of torque. While the 4 cylinder, 1.3 litre Smart XSDE diesel mill is expected to be launched a little later. This MPV will be fitted with a 5-Speed manual transmission gear box and a whole lot of comfort and safety features to entice the buyers.
Renault Duster will be a 5-seater compact SUV from the stables of Renault India and is expected to drive into the market by August, 2012. This powerful SUV is being offered in both petrol and diesel variants and is anticipated to give a mileage in the range of 10 to 14 Kmpl. The price tag of this compact SUV is estimated to be under Rs. 10 lakh range. The petrol version will be fitted with a 1598cc I4 DOHC motor and can churn out 105 Bhp and a 145 Nm of torque. While the diesel mill is expected to be a 1.5 litre CRDI engine that can provide 250 Nm of torque and 85 Bhp of power output. Both these engines are mated with a 6-Speed manual transmission gear box and a long list of safety and comfort features as well.
This seven seater MPV, which is expected to be launched in either August or September this year, will carry a price tag of around Rs. 7 lakh. This MPV will be equipped with a turbocharged, 4 cylinder 1.5 litre dCi, CRDI diesel engine that has the capability to produce 85 Bhp along with 200 Nm of torque. While the other petrol version will have a 4 cylinder, 1.6 HR16DE motor that will produce 106 Bhp of power output and 153 Nm of torque. Both these engines will be skillfully mated with a 5-Speed manual transmission gear box. The mileage of Nissan Evalia is expected to be between 13 to 16 Kmpl. This MPV is anticipated to be fitted with the best in class safety features and other advanced gadgets for the convenience of the occupants.
The industry is soon going to witness a range of new cars which would have best of everything; starting from accessories, speed, power, fuel effeciency and features; name it and they have it. But whether they will raise the bar for the Indian automobile industry and take it to another level, that's something which only time will tell.
