Tata Air Car... The Answer to Petrol and Diesel Price Hike?

With the petrol prices hitting the roof, rumors of more tax on diesel vehicles are taking its toll on the common man. The recent steep hike in the petrol prices have made the buyers reluctant from buying petrol cost owing to its high cost. While diesel cars are doing incredible business and are selling like hot cakes. But, the point is whether the populace is realizing that shifting from petrol to diesel cars is not going to help in the future. Apart from this, there is also speculation that the government is mulling over to increase the taxes on diesel passenger cars further. If these taxes are implemented, the diesel engine passenger cars will become exorbitant and out of reach for many families. This will bring in utter chaos and confusion along with a severe crisis situation for the automobile companies. There are very few options of hybrid and CNG cars in the country, but they are not very popular.

In all this pandemonium and turmoil, Tata Motors India seems to have come up with a brilliant and innovative initiative of a compressed Air Car. Tata Motors’ Air-Car Product to be Showcased Soon. Tata India is one of the oldest car manufacturers in the country and has been associated with some of the most popular cars in the country. Their small and efficient car, Tata Nano is a perfect example of innovation. This small car gives a remarkable mileage, is easy on the pocket and has low maintenance and repair costs. This company has now come up with a ground breaking Air Car, which is called as Emo V. Tata Motor Group claims that this novel Air Car has the capacity to attain a top speed of 80 Kmph and can travel as far as 140 Kms or 80 miles. The notion of using free energy was prevalent in earlier times as there are reports, which state the usage of compressed air in the mining industry almost a century ago. This Air Car can be fuelled free of cost in most of the countries across the world as the majority of fuel stations still offer compressed air for free. All said and done, with a scarcity of precious fuel imminent in the coming future, having such wonderful and inventive options will be a very good step towards making such futuristic vehicles. The main question of curiosity here for many is how does an Air Car engine works? The initial Air Cars will have air compressors integrated into them, which have to be plugged in before the car is taken for a drive. Once the compressor is plugged in, it will take in the air from around and will fill the compressed air tank. But, regrettably this is a slower way of refueling and might take close to a couple of hours to completely fill up the air tank. If this initiative is implemented in future, the fuel stations will have to keep a dedicated place for refueling of these cars. These Air Cars are run with a typical process, which is when the accelerator is pressed, a valve on the air tank allows compressed air to be released through a pipe into the engine. This air pressure created by the expansion of air will then press on the piston and then turn the crankshaft.

This process is claimed to produce sufficient power for this air car, which will help in attaining a top speed of 56 Kmph. Once this speed is exceeded, a motor will be activated to help the integrated air compressor to generate more air while this Air Car is in motion. This will further provide extra power and the air will also heat up and increase in volume, thus allowing this Air Car to move even faster. The most significant advantage of using an Air Car is that there will be no pollution of CO2 emission. The other benefits of these Air Cars is that they are lighter in weight, eco-friendly and are anticipated to be quite economical and will not burn a hole in the pocket. Tata Motors have stated that, they might come out with their first such innovative Air Car, Emo V by the end of this year. The company had announced way back in year, 2008 that they were not quite ready with a mass production model at that time. But, it seems that this innovation is finally going to be ready by this year end and we might be able to see it or at least get some more concrete information on this. It is also anticipated that this Air Car by Tata Motors will be equipped with a similar CAE (Compressed Air Engine) discussed above. It is really inspiring to know that companies are putting in a lot of hard work and effort to develop such inventive and futuristic products, which will be of enormous help once the fuel resources are depleted or will be out of reach of the global populace.
