One of the most favourite SUVs of India, Ford Endeavour, was recently launched in a spanking new special edition, called as the Ford Endeavour All Terrain Edition and loaded with better looks, advanced gadgetries and improved mechanicals, in the country’s blazing Sports Utility market, taking competition levels to alarming heights. Considering the fact that the car has seen a major drop in sales just last month, going from 220 units in December 2012 to 31 in January 2013, this new launch could not have come at a better timing. All that is left to be seen now is how well this new special edition, together with its existing elder siblings, holds up against the powerful squad of rivals like Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra SsangYong Rexton that awaits it in the battlefield.

Today the dazzling and the biggest auto event of the country, Auto Expo 2012 triggered off with generous amount of launches from varied car makers that included domestic and global car manufacturers. With so many car makers, it was a good for Toyota Motors too. The firm launches the latest models of Toyota Fortuner SUV and Toyota Innova MPV. Both these new cars have been launched with prominent cosmetic changes. Toyota India kept its word and introduced both cars with exterior facelifts, which are pretty eminent comprising of refresh headlamps, redesigned grille accompanied with a touched-up rear end.

Toyota Motors is all prepared and geared up to launch the face-lifted version of its most popular MPV, Toyota Innova, which has been dominating the Indian MPV segment for quite some time now. To add more enthusiasm and zeal to the Indian car market scene, the Japanese Auto major is also planning to launch the face-lifted model of Toyota Fortuner, which is the most sought after SUV in the country. Both these new cars will feature only cosmetic changes, under the hood specifications will be kept same as before. The face-lifted Toyota Fortuner and Innova will hit the Indian roads on January 5^th 2012.

Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) is facing order backlog of 5,000 cars for its Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Toyota Fortuner and closed the new bookings again. Toyota opened the bookings recently in the month of August after holding it in January as there was huge order piled up already.

As per Hiroshi Nakagawa, MD Toyota Kirloskar, the company is already having a huge booking backlog of Toyota Fortuner and it cannot not take on any new bookings as of now. It will take five to six months to fulfill the order. The company has increased the manufacturing to 1,000 cars every month which was 500 cars few months back. Toyota Motors is beaming with orders on other models as well but the bookings are also piled up for the sedan Toyota Corolla Altis and SUV Toyota Innova. Toyoya Innova and Toyota Corolla together have recorded orders for more than 2,000 units.

It has been one year since the first Toyota Fortuner hit Indian roads. Ever since then, the car has went on to become a bestseller of sorts. So much so that the company had to suspend bookings till January 2011. But to mark the anniversary and celebrate the 10,000 happy customers of Toyota Fortuner family, Toyota Kirloskar Motor would be introducing the ‘Fortuner Anniversary Edition’. Since the Toyota Fortuner’s launch on August 24, 2009, the car has went on to gain about 60 per cent market share in its segment. The company will roll out only 250 units of this special edition of the Toyota Fotuner under this offer.

Toyota Fortuner has gone on to become Toyota’s bestseller in the country. There is a mad rush for its bookings and Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) has suspended bookings of the Toyota Fortuner one again this time till January 2011. Toyota had opened bookings of the SUV for a month from July 1 but Toyota dealers received 3004 bookings that is about 100 bookings a day.

More and more Indian customers are discovering their love for the big and bulky SUVs. One fine example of this new founf love for the SUVs is the popularity of Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s SUV Fortuner. The SUV is in great demand so much so that in no time the company was staring at a huge backlog in no time. As a result the company had to take a step and suspend bookings for Toyota Fortuner.
