After having kept its countless fans across India waiting with bated breath, Ford EcoSport will now be launching first in the Chinese auto-market. As recently reported by CarNewsChina, the American auto-giant has scheduled the China launch for its charismatic compact SUV car to take place on the 19th of this very month. The Ford EcoSport launch date in India, in the meantime, has once again been delayed, this time expected to fall sometime around April end or early May. For the Chinese auto-bazaar, which has always shown better inclination for petrol motors in comparison to oil-burners, the American marque plans on introducing an all-petrol range of Ford EcoSport driven by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo petrol mill along with a 1.5-litre petrol engine. To work in synchronization with these engines, a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox has been employed as standard by the company, while a 6-speed dual-clutch powershift autobox has also been chosen to serve as an additional option exclusively for the 1.5-litre petrol mill.

One of the most favourite SUVs of India, Ford Endeavour, was recently launched in a spanking new special edition, called as the Ford Endeavour All Terrain Edition and loaded with better looks, advanced gadgetries and improved mechanicals, in the country’s blazing Sports Utility market, taking competition levels to alarming heights. Considering the fact that the car has seen a major drop in sales just last month, going from 220 units in December 2012 to 31 in January 2013, this new launch could not have come at a better timing. All that is left to be seen now is how well this new special edition, together with its existing elder siblings, holds up against the powerful squad of rivals like Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra SsangYong Rexton that awaits it in the battlefield.
The solitary SUV in the grand fleet of Ford cars in India, the iconic Ford Endeavour, has been launched in a spanking new special edition by the company, titled as the Ford Endeavour All Terrain Edition. Rolled out a couple of days ago, on the 16th of February 2013, this is the second special edition that has been introduced for the mighty beast in the country after the 4x4 Hurricane Limited Edition that was brought out in the year 2011. An Indian's dream car goes like this, it must be a big car actually something like a 'caaaar', it might sound contradictory but at the same time he wishes a compact one as well, so he doesn't stuck in traffic and can be parked easily. It must also be cheap because it is the biggest reason, which stops a common Indian to own a car and the last but not the least is the great Indian obsession- the mileage aka 'Kitna Deti Hai'. After searching a lot, we figured out that there are three-four such cars, which fit into in an average middle-class Indian's bill. These are Renault's Uraban SUV Duster, Maruti's Life Utility Vehicle Ertiga, Mahindra's Mini MPV Quanto and Ford's upcoming compact SUV EcoSport. We are dropping the two MPVs for the day and will compare the rest two, which are the compact SUVs.

The Indian Auto Expo 2012 witnessed two mini-SUV concepts - Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport. Out of which, Renault Duster has been launched this week and Indian car lovers are now waiting for the bigger treat - Ford EcoSport. Ford EcoSport is one of the smallest SUVs in the world and Ford’s smallest SUV in its global portfolio for the first thing. Ford was planning to launch it during the approaching festive season i.e. around Diwali, but has been postponed. Now the SUV might be launched by the first quarter of 2013. It seems more like a strategy nowadays that let the eagerness in people go up and launch the product the time it gets the maximum hype and publicity. First, Renault for the Duster and now Ford seems to be applying the same strategy for the EcoSport. As most of us are well aware, Ford recently showcased the highly anticipated production version at the Beijing motor show. Secondly, China is the biggest market for SUV cars and the market dynamics are not so different from India. Thus, the model which we saw at the Beijing motor show can also make its way to India.
