With ever increasing pollution in the world and the successive damage done to the environment as a whole, which ultimately becomes catastrophic for human existence, has obviously raised a lot of concerns around the world. Every now and then world elites are witnessed discussing measures to avoid these issues. One of the major sources of pollution are the automobiles which are also connected to another bigger issue of resource unavailability at hand. Petrol and diesel were by far the most used fuel systems for the automobiles while economical alternatives such as CNG and LPG evolved over the years. While these were alternatives which were probably okay due to their availability, the indisputable fact that these resources too would eventually go scarce, led manufacturers to venture into other alternatives.
But no matter how immediate the need is or how innovative the efforts are, unless the masses follow it, any technological solution might be left unheard. India is one of the largest automobile market internationally. At the same time however, it is also the most diverse automobile market in the world. People do not just buy products based on innovation and need but also consider long term advantages of the car. Factors like resale value, brand name, mileage, service availability, maintenance expenses play a considerate role with the Indian demographic. No matter how innovative an automobile is, the trusted brands which proved their worth on Indian roads would remain the prime choice. People mostly prefer word of mouth which becomes a hassle for the international players who enter the market for the first time. When an innovative product such as electric vehicles are concerned, the dubious nature of customers stays a hurdle. How far the product can succeed in India can be checked through the same parameters Indian customers look for in order to cross check the availability of the same by manufacturers.
