Keeping car enthusiasts in anticipation for quite a bit now, Nissan has finally launched its compact hatchback Nissan Micra in the market. The car would be priced at INR 3,98,000 - XE (entry), INR 4,69,500 - XL (Mid) & INR 528,800 - XV (Top) - all ex-showroom Delhi. Considering the overwhelming response from the Indian buyers with as much as 1500 bookings registered before the launch, Micra sure has grabbed attention of the Indian customers and how !
The countdown for one of the most awaited car launch of the year has just begun. Nissan Micra, the first indigenously designed car for the Indian market by Nissan motors is going to launch today in the Indian market and would be out for sale from tomorrow. The car has created enough buzz around its launch ever since the concept was first revealed. Every Indian wants to grab this attractive pie from Nissan motors and flaunt it in their parking spaces. Within six weeks of the bookings being started, the car managed to clock around 1500 bookings, which indeed reflects the enthusiasm in the minds and hearts of the Indian customers.
Drumroll please...Volkswagen has finally launched its much awaited premium sedan Volkswagen Vento ! Today at the launching ceremony, a white beaming Vento was unveiled amidst the the crazy enthusiasts who waited quite a while before they finally saw this beauty. Available only in the last quarter of 2010, the Indian buyers would have to wait a little before they can get their hands on the Vento. The car would be shelved in the price bracket of 7-9 Lakhs.
Volkswagen, the German car maker is back with a bang this year with two back to back launches. After the successful launch of Volkswagen Polo in the month of March, the company is all set to launch its new entrant, Volkswagen Vento, tomorrow on 6th July'2010. This would perhaps be the most talked about launch of the year as the model is going to compete against Honda City, a leader that had monopoly in the segment since past few years. With enormous expectations, huge enthusiasm and great innovation surrounding the launch, Indian buyers and industry experts are all keen to witness what this beauty on wheels has to finally offer. Backlogs are both a good and bad thing for carmakers. While the backlog shows that the vehicle is in demand, it also repels some prospective buyers who might opt for the closest competitor. Something similar is happening with Ford Figo as the company is seeing an overwhelming domestic demand for Ford's small car Figo.
Fiat is contemplating the launch of a new version of the Fiat Punto in July. The company is all set to roll out a 90 hp Fiat Grande Punto Diesel, which was showcased at the 2010 Auto Expo in New Delhi. The Fiat Grande Punto is targeted at the young and urban audience and to lure this cash rich Indian youth the car would also flaunt funky electric sunroof, sporty upholstery, a rear spoiler, sport red decals, blacked-out headlamps, bigger tyres and dual colour interior leather seats. But this model is likely to be pegged at Rs 7 lakh which is above the other Fiat Punto models. But the model would co exist with the other models. The 90 bhp Fiat Punto is likely to be offered in top-end ‘Emotion’ and ‘Emotion Pack’ variants. According to the official spokesperson of Fiat India, “We will launch the “Fiat Punto 90hp” in India during July. We will not call it Sports.” The Punto Sport would sport a 1.3-litre 90bhp multijet diesel engine which powers the Fiat Linea as well.
With the sales figures on an upsurge and the purchasing power of Indian automobile buyers rising again, many auto majors have geared up with new cars and releases, to to make good use of the feel good factor in the market. The small car segment is heading up for a stiff competition with Ford, Volkswagen, Nissan, Maruti all launching their products in this segment. The Indian auto industry recently saw Volkswagen Polo being launched in the month of March'2010, while Nissan is all set to launch its Micra, a hatchback by 15th July'2010.
The Indian passenger car market hit another milestone with the June sales figures of the companies. This time the number one and two positions are both held tightly by India-based car makers with Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors on number one and two respectively. The Indian carmaker Tata Motors surpassed Hyundai to be country's second-biggest passenger vehicle maker in June. All thanks to the tiny Tata Nano whose production started at Sanand in Gujarat. Fiat has plans of leaving a mark on the country’s burgeoning small car market by launching an India-specific car. Rajeev Kapoor, MD, Fiat India told a leading business daily, “The new car will be an India-specific one, made in India, made for India, keeping in mind the country’s unique terrain and temperatures. Our R and D team is working day in and day out to develop the car that meets consumers’ needs in the best manner.”
